About the company

An IT company that behaves more like a studio than a vendor.

MINUTE PICTURES LIMITED is a small, independent IT company. We take on a limited number of engagements so that each one receives real attention from the people doing the work.

Mission

Make software that keeps its promises.

Our mission is to build digital products and internal systems that continue to work well after the release notes have been archived. That means writing code we can defend, designing interfaces we can explain, and being honest about the trade-offs at every step.

Vision

Software worth staying with.

We want to be the studio a team returns to across the lifetime of a product — through the first release, the awkward second version, and the quiet years of improvement that make the difference between software that survives and software that gets rewritten.

Professional values

What we hold ourselves to.

Honesty over comfort

We tell clients what we believe, including when it slows a project down or shortens its scope.

Craft over speed

We move quickly, but we do not confuse motion with progress. Work is finished when it is finished.

Ownership over hand-off

Whoever writes a piece of the system is responsible for how it behaves in production.

Written thinking

Decisions we cannot explain in writing are decisions we have not fully made.

Approach to technology

Boring technology, used well.

We reach for well-understood tools before novel ones. Every new dependency is a debt that has to be paid, in learning, maintenance and eventual replacement. Our default is the simplest thing that could plausibly work — and often that is enough.

Collaboration

We work with clients, not around them.

The best software we have shipped has come from engagements where the client team was in the room with us: writing tickets, reviewing prototypes, disagreeing with us when we needed it.

We work in short cycles with visible progress. Weekly demos are non-negotiable. Slack is not a substitute for a decision record, and a status update is not a substitute for showing the work.

Quality principles

Quality is the sum of small refusals.

Refuse the shortcut

Every quick fix that is not written down becomes tomorrow's mystery.

Refuse the guess

If we cannot reproduce a bug, we do not close it.

Refuse the noise

A pull request contains one idea. A commit tells one story.

Security & responsibility

Trust is a slow currency.

We treat client data, credentials and infrastructure with conservative defaults: least privilege, encrypted transport, scoped access, and clear ownership of secrets. Where a decision affects security or privacy, we err toward the option that is easier to defend later.

Long-term product thinking

A product is not a launch. It is a decade of decisions, most of them small.

The most valuable work we do rarely appears in a changelog: a schema kept clean, a test suite kept fast, a boundary respected, a naming decision reversed before it hardens. We optimise for the version of the product that exists two years from now.
